Lex Brown is an interdisciplinary artist and graduate of Princeton University, where
she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in art in 2012 and was the
recipient of the James Seawright Award, Lawrence P. Wolfen Senior Thesis Award, and
the Lucas Award in Visual Arts. Upon graduation, she attended Skowhegan School of
Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine, where she was a resident artist for nine
weeks. Brown has also been a resident at Chautauqua Institute and Yale-Norfolk School
of Art. Raised in Northern Virginia, Brown currently lives in Los Angeles, California,
where she is working on a new body of work that deals with performance, ornamentation,
and new intersections of race and class in America.
